Overview
There are two Model 8835 1 GB Asynchronous The Model 8835 SCSI disk drive works in conjunction with a SCSI initiator, which is typically an I/O controller on the host. Eight addresses are available on each SCSI bus; the initiator and each SCSI disk drive (target) take up one address. Both Model 8835E and Model 8835U provide increased data safety since
the drive’s heads automatically lock at power down. This makes the
Model 8835E an ideal candidate for use with Model 8928 or Model 8931
Removable SCSI Chassis and the Model 8835U an ideal candidate for a
Model 8934 4-Device SCSI Chassis or an Encore 91 Series Desk High
System. • Automatic reallocation of media defects • Advanced flaw management • Closed-loop, dedicated servo system • Dedicated head-landing zone Interface The embedded SCSI controller conforms to the ANSI SCSI standard and the Common Command Set. The interface supports disconnect/reconnect, self-configuring host software, and automatic features that relieve the host of the need to deal with the physical characteristics of the disk drive. Low Power Consumption In idle mode, Models 8835E and 8835U typically draw only 24 watts. The low wattage results in cool operation, higher MTBF, and reduced operating cost. Additional cooling is supplied by the SCSI Chassis. |
